How to find us

December 2008

On this sunny day, 7th December 2008, here in Greyton, I wonder what to share with you…

What a year full of experiences and learning, successes and failures, old and new!

I am grateful to all our Dear clients who have allowed us to be part of their lives for some hours, days or weeks. What a privilege to live out here in Greyton and to do this work of healing and being a witness of your inner and outer transformations. How beautiful it has been to see your strengths and weaknesses, your pain and joy, your challenge to find the balance between doing and being. And always there is something for us to learn with you- being the student and the teacher at the same time. Your striving for health and balance being ours as well.

At this end of 2008 I am grateful for the new Nalanda team and each one’s commitment to the work. How much everybody’s input affects the total outcome, how much we each play a role, sometimes not so obvious, but equally important.

And I feel so lucky to receive all the gifts of nature: water and nourishing rains, the beauty of the earth, plants and food, the air and wind, the heat of the sun and the abundance of space and a beautiful evening sky.

And today I hand back to the Divine all the successes and failures of this year. As we cannot do any treatment or Retreat without the help of the Universe/Nature/God, so am I only a humble servant for the plan to be fulfilled and nothing really belongs to me. I ask for further inner guidance to be able to provide this space of healing for you.

May you (past and future clients, friends and family and everybody we may not meet in person) receive an abundance of blessings for this festive season. May you too feel the joy and gratitude for everybody and all that is given to you. May you experience good health in body – mind & soul and may we all together be able to take even better care of the elements that are providing the very basis for our existence.

With love Margit

On behalf of the entire Nalanda team

Education Week: Ayurvedic Massage - Give & Receive Module 1

Restoring harmony with the gift of touch

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian healing art leading to greater awareness of oneself and ones surroundings. The traditional Indian oil massage calms the nervous system, activates circulation, rids the body of tensions and promotes better health and well being for body, mind and spirit.

You will feel the effect of the treatments on your own body. Massage cannot be learned on an intellectual level as a technique, the body needs to create a memory of receiving and giving touch. Through massaging and being massaged, you will connect more deeply with your physical self and hence, all the other parts of your being.

We will start the day with gentle yoga stretches breathing and meditation to loosen your body and relax your mind.

You will learn the practice of following Ayurveda Wellness Massages:

  • Abhyanga – back massage with warm oil
  • Abhyanga – arm massage with warm oil
  • Abhyanga – 2 positions full body oil massage
  • Pagachampi – leg massage with pressure
  • Grasshopper – vigorous shoulder and back massage
  • Ayurvedic head massage with oil

We will discuss:

  • Personal hygiene for the practice of Ay. Massage
  • Environmental hygiene for the practice of Ay. Massage
  • Ethics
  • Oils used in Ayurvedic Massage
  • History of Ay. Massage
  • Benefits of Ay. Massage
  • Contraindications for Ay. Massage

  • Principles of Ayurveda
  • Discover your own body type
  • How to take care of your own health and wellbeing using the knowledge of Ayurveda

Throughout the teachings we encourage you to be in contact with nature in our beautiful village of Greyton. During the training, vegetarian ayurvedic meals, snacks and drinks will be served.

This week will be a balancing and nurturing experience of Ayurvedic Massage.
